We received
the beautiful gift of a new quilted cover,
personally designed and sewn by a
friend named Wendy.
Notice how its rich colors move from
darkness to light. Its rose is a symbol of love. The dove, used also as
our Chaplaincy logo, is a symbol of peace.
"The death of our Hospice House patients
is a sacred
time.
We
demonstrate our honor and respect by inviting the
family to allow us to place a special quilt over the gurney
as the body is removed by the funeral director.
We invite the family to walk in procession
with our
staff to the funeral car.
We carry a lit candle to celebrate
the light of their memory.
We have accompanied our
patient on the final steps of their life journey.
Our procession reminds us that, in life and
in death, we are never alone."
